A Note From Our Founder

Managing support services consumes valuable time and effort. We know — we've been there.

After spending 30+ years in the medical laboratory space, I saw a need to offer the most commonly required support services in an integrated manner, leveraging proprietary software that makes things easier for the customer — all while offering superior service. No one was doing this in healthcare when I was running laboratories. Healthcare support services is littered with “single-service line” companies who offer varying degrees of quality and capabilities.

As a former laboratorian, I sought out national support service vendors and partners who offered quality services with excellent customer care. This request proved to be elusive.

In 2020, my partner Jared Kearns and I created Diagnostic Support Services (DS2) — a company we wished we had available to us when we were managing labs. We offer the most commonly required support service capabilities, leveraging unique technology to create an enhanced customer experience — all focused around patient care.

Howard is co-founder of Diagnostic Support Services and serves as the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Howard has dedicated his career to the healthcare industry and has spent more than 30 years building and leading medical laboratory and healthcare companies.

Prior to starting Diagnostic Support Services, Howard was a founding member of Progenity, a women's health genetics testing laboratory and biotechnology company focused on novel and innovative technologies. While at Progenity, Howard served on the board and led the company's operational functions.

Before that, Howard was a founder of Sequenom's Center for Molecular Medicine, a molecular diagnostics laboratory, where he led operations and created the company's first commercial capabilities. Howard started his career at Quest Diagnostics, where he spent almost 15 years in a variety of roles and positions.

Jared is a co-founder of Diagnostic Support Services and serves as the company's Chief Technology Officer. In addition to leading the technology strategy at Diagnostic Support Services, Jared also serves as a founder and partner for Gistia Healthcare, a technology development and healthcare data analytics company.

Prior to this, Jared worked for Progenity, a genetics laboratory and biotechnology company, as the organization's CIO.

Jared was also the founder of the Kearns Group, a technology consulting organization servicing the needs of healthcare, financial and automotive industries.

Chuck Wayland serves as Chief Commercial Officer at DS2, where he leads the company's sales, marketing, business development, customer success, and strategic growth initiatives. With more than 25 years of experience building and leading high-performing commercial organizations, Chuck has helped healthcare, diagnostics, laboratory, and life sciences companies accelerate growth through customer-focused strategies, operational excellence, and scalable business models.

Throughout his career, Chuck has held senior leadership roles responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic partnerships, expanding market presence, and building customer-centric organizations. His expertise spans clinical diagnostics, laboratory services, clinical research support, healthcare technology, and integrated service solutions.

At DS2, Chuck is focused on advancing the company's mission of delivering connected support services across the healthcare ecosystem, including custom kitting, specimen collection and phlebotomy services, medical courier solutions, and technology-enabled integrations. He is passionate about helping clients simplify complex operational challenges while improving patient, provider, and customer experiences.

Chuck's leadership philosophy centers on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and creating long-term value for customers, employees, and business partners.
